It All Begins Here

Building a Standalone Brand for the Weld Shop

For years, LightWELD lived inside IPG Photonics corporate website, polished and technical, built for engineers and procurement teams. But the people actually using LightWELD were welders. Hands-on, blue-collar, and nothing like the audience that site was built for. To grow with that market, LightWELD needed to break away from its parent company and become a brand of its own. The result is The Weld Shop

Typography: Introduced distressed, worn-in type treatments to give the brand a rugged, blue-collar feel that echoed the environment the product actually lives in.

Traded IPG's clean, corporate palette for a darker, more industrial set of tones, something that felt at home in a weld shop, not a boardroom.

Shifted the copy away from technical spec-sheet language and toward the outcomes that mattered to welders what the product could actually do for them on the job, not just how it worked.

Together, these choices gave The Weld Shop a visual and verbal language that welders could immediately relate to while still carrying enough polish to stand on its own as a product brand.
